Rarely will solution testing require all of the following tests, but the best test plan evaluates the applicability of all of them. In that way, all assumptions about the scope of testing are clearly visible:

Funcational testing:

Hardware / System testing for Mobile computing devices ensures all of the components (like device controls, storage media handling options or other operational aspects etc.) function together as specified. Test cases can be prepared by the owner of the software or by the testing service provider.

Compatibility testing :

Mobile applications are tested for their compatibility with a multitude of OS/platform combinations, devices and variants. The key service here is to test device variations with the same operating system version or to test operating system variations with 'similar' devices.

Interoperability testing: Testing and verification of peripheral devices with the latest internet applications and PDAs is carried out to ensure that the devices work correctly.
